【摘要】:Cellularplasticsarecomposedofthemembranesorwallsofpolymerseparatingsmallcavitiesorcells.Thesecellsmaybeinterconnecting(opencell),non-connecting(closedcell),oranycombinationofthesetypes.Thistestmethoddeterminesnumericalvaluesforopencells.Itisaporositydetermination,measuringtheaccessiblecellularvolumeofamaterial.Thevolumeoccupiedbyclosedcellsisconsideredtoincludecellwalls.Sinceanyconvenientlysizedspecimencanonlybeobtainedbysomecuttingoperation,afractionoftheclosedcellswillbeopenedduringsamplepreparationandwillbeincludedasopencells.Thistestmethodconsistsofthreeprocedures:ProcedureA,designedtocorrectforcellsopenedduringsamplepreparation,bymeasuringcelldiameter,calculating,andallowingforsurfacevolume;ProcedureB,designedtocorrectforcellsopenedinsamplepreparation,bycuttingandexposingnewsurfaceareaequaltothesurfaceareaoftheoriginalsampledimension,andProcedureC,whichdoesnotcorrectforcellsopenedduringsamplepreparationandgivesgoodaccuracyonpredominantlyhighlyopen-celledmaterials.Theaccuracydecreasesastheclosedcellcontentincreasesandasthecellsizeincreases.ThevaluesasstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesinparenthesesaregivenforinformationonly.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.SpecificprecautionarystatementsaregiveninNotes2,4,and8.Note1-ThistestmethodandISO4590-1981usethesamebasicprinciplesbutaresignificantlydifferentinexperimentaldetail.
